The Muscular Dystrophy Association is a non-profit health agency that is dedicated to finding treatments and cures for 43 neuromuscular diseases. It is through your support and kindness that the Association will be able to provide services to over 800 Reno Area families affected by muscular dystrophy.  These services include free clinic visits , support group sessions, summer activities for kids, assisting with medical equipment (such as wheelchairs, leg braces, communication devices) repairs, and funding innovative research.  We are specifically trying to raise money to send two (2) kids to the local summer camp!

Accidents in Reno, NV: Slip & Fall Injuries

With the holidays approaching, it is time for many of us to finish our shopping and hastily complete any last minute holiday errands. Though the Reno personal injury attorneys of Beckett, Yott, McCarty & Spann have already warned of the dangers of driving in Reno’s winter weather, walking on icy sidewalks and parking lots can sometimes prove to be equally hazardous.

Of course, accidents happen to all of us at one point or another, and sliding on a patch of ice or tripping on a step is not an abnormal occurrence – often injuring only our pride. However, if more serious injuries result from the negligence of another, then the property owner, or negligent party, may be held liable. Winter Driving in Reno

Winter weather conditions in Reno often create a challenging and potentially dangerous environment for driving. The Reno Gazette Journal has reported numerous traffic accidents in Reno over the last two weeks due to poor driving conditions and ice on the roads.

On November 24, a young driver traveling west on Interstate 80 in a white Toyota pickup hit a patch of black ice in the far right lane and lost control of the vehicle. According to the report, the vehicle “left the road, rolled, and came to rest on its roof next to the freeway exit to Robb drive.” Fortunately, the driver did not sustain any injuries.

Nevada Highway Patrol also reported multiple accidents on November 23, causing several more rollovers and spin-outs as weather conditions forced highway closures throughout the area. With below or near freezing temperatures and moisture on the roads, it is important to keep basic winter driving safety tips in mind. The Reno police, public works and fire departments have provided a list of tips which include:

•Limit outings to only those necessary. Less traffic on the roadways makes it safer for everyone.

A third generation Nevadan, Mr. Spann graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a B.S. in 1978 and the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1982. With extensive experience in all aspects of litigation, Mr. Spann focuses in the areas of product liability, trucking law, insurance litigation, and complex civil litigation.
